Your Guide to viewing the Parade!

WInterfest Q&A...Ask Kathy

Q: when do boats have to report at the starting point?

A: Boaters can stage in their locations as early as 2:30 pm but must be in their staging location by 4:30 pm. Since boaters are docked - their guests can meet up with the boat at a later time (based on their number in the parade.

Q: what time does the parade typically begin?

A: The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. with the fireworks barge announcing the start of the parade.

Q: what is the time commitment for the parade - in other words, how long does it take boats to complete the route of the parade?

A: The moment you leave the staging dock - the parade should take 1 1/2 hrs to reach lake Santa Barbara

Captain's Meeting - MANDATORY

Event Date: Dec 06, 2010 - 18:00

The following information must be filled out PRIOR to this meeting:

Prelimary Application (what you see on this website)

Proof of Insurance with notation that Winterfest is named additionally insured

Application II (which will be mailed/emailed to you separately)

Dock Waiver signed (which will be mailed/emailed to you separately)

Parade fee received in the Winterfest office.

Day of the PARADE Info

Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade

Stage early - MUST BE IN YOUR AREA BY 4:30 PM - You will receive your parade staging location at the Captain's Meeting.

Anchoring

Recommended Anchoring Areas:

New River Cut - South of the turn at Bahia Mar.
Northeast side of the Las Olas Bridge.
Southwest side of Sunrise Bridge.
Western portion of Lake Santa Barbara - this is where the parade turns around.

No Anchor Zones
The New River will have no anchor zones and will close for boat traffic at 2:30 p.m. The other parade no anchor zone is Birch State Park. We will be working with many law enforcement agencies and will also provide "control boats" (civilian boaters that have attended safety traning and information seminars regarding the parade). Make sure you are anchored by 4:00 pm as the Intracoastal Waterway will close to all boat traffic at 5:20.

REMEMBER YOU CANNOT ANCHOR IN FRONT OF A CONTROL BOAT - but a control boat can anchor IN FRONT of your vessel if needed.
